where others come for vacation ...

I wake up at 4AM with the thought of wanting to go for a run while it's still cool -- 5AM sounds about right. I close my eyes. A minute later, i open my eyes and find out its 8:30AM. Oh the Joy of running in my SLEEP. And the best part is you're more refreshed than tiRed afterwards!!!
We have Lunch with Lukas's jeweler friend Walti and his daughter Simona in Altdorf (Home of William Tell). We're sitting outside in the garden and i enjoy watching the world go by against the backdrop of green alps. A small dog jumps into the water fountain & relishes his bath. But more than that he enjoys drenching his owner with water as he shakes himself vigorously afterwards.. No such water fountains for us to cool off, so we make do with Italian Gelati.. Ummm Umm mhhhhhmmmm.. Maracuja is soon becoming my favorite leaving dark chocolate a distant second!!
Not much to blog about for the rest of the afternoon.. a bit of this & that for paperwork (seems to have become my middle name now!) and soon it's timer dinner and then a swim: no swans, no dogs, albeit some ducks this Abend (evening in German)
I try too hard to swim breaststroke, but the harder i try, the more difficult it gets. Perhaps the trick is to let go and just feel the water.. tomorrow is another day.
An interesting movie "Still Alice" to end yet another day in my new home in Switzerland..

Another faulpelz day.. some errands in the morning leading to more appointments..Seriously!! who'd think I'm retired?
I greedily absorb the serenity of the lake during breakfast with Lukas which sets the tone for the rest of the day -- being faulpelz is the BEST!
A swim in the lake later in the evening (no swans today, a neighbor brings in a BIG DOG who loves jumping in the water and making splashes!) I've learnt my lesson from yesterday and get out quickly.
For a faulpelz, I even manage to cook daal-subzi-roti. Cravings can make one do wonders!!

Yeahhh.. I'm a week old in Switzerland already. Time sure flies..
Some paperwork for Residence permit in the Morgen (morning) and we're off to Lucerne to find Shoes for him.
One would assume it to be the easiest of all tasks, but since we love window shopping, we end up finding the right pair only at the 10th and last Shoe Store in Lucerne! Thank Goodness!
After a nice lunch (albeit served by a grumpy German hostess), I'm drawn to a chocolate shop nearby... Ummmm fresh chocolates are DIVINE.. I wonder why i filled up my stomach with the panini sandwich
Soon we're on our way to Meggen. After a quick stop at the flower shop, Lukas decides that we should return home by driving around Lake Lucerne. It's a beautiful day and the lake offers amazing views against the varied backdrop of the surrounding mountains. Thankfully we're driving behind a slow tourist car from Germany, so i can enjoy the views even more. Lukas feels he will fall asleep behind the wheel if we drive any slower ;) (Ain't i glad i never learnt to drive stick shift!!)
I can't resist the calling of the cool waters of the lake and we head out for a swim.. The water temp is ~22C, refreshingly perfect on a hot day like today. Soon some guests stop by with their baby. We swim/float with the swans for a bit till they bid us goodbye.
Everyone else steps out of the water after ~10mins.. but I can't let go of the refreshing feeling and decide to stay. An hour ticks by and soon i start to shiver uncontrollably - now i realize why they left
Back in the balcony with a glass of wine and Life has never felt this Good before!!!!
