We're awakened at 2AM by a severe thunderstorm.. Gusty winds, heavy rain, jagged bolts of lightening splitting up the now invisible mountains, followed by booms echoing through the valley. Quite a show. For once, the cats seem more interested in the drama being staged outside than in chasing each other. This is usually the time they get wild.
Thanks to the thunderstorm, I oversleep in the morning and my plans to go running before sunrise have to be laid to rest. I'm happy to be faulpelz for the day. I go back to snooze at 10AM for an hour. I cook Polenta and Ratatouille for the first time and to my utter delight (and Lukas's).. it's delicious.

After a lovely sunrise, we're having yet another HOT (Huere Heiss) DAY here.. A Perfect day for a Gelato (or rather Two!!) and a sunset swim in Lake Lucerne.
But a not so perfect day for cooking Quinoa (tip: never cook Quinoa with Bouillon. Even after 30 mins, the Quinoa grains didn't cook.. perhaps they were protesting against the Heat!)
Submitted the paperwork for opening a bank account. Will take about 2-3 days as I'm a US Citizen.. Duh!!!

We wake up in the middle of the night with a loud sliding noise coming from the kitchen.. What are the Cats upto? Are they having a midnight party? Within a minute i hear Lukas's call "There's something wrong with the cats. Do you see Skylar? I search for her in all rooms and finally reach the kitchen. We can hear her cries.. She is stuck in the gap between the kitchen cupboard and floor. Apparently they climbed up the kitchen closets and she fell down the small opening. Lukas tries to coax her back to the opening to no avail. Her cries continue and Nellie parks herself outside the closet where she hears her sister -- she's just going to be there. Finally Lukas is able to dismantle a ground board & coax her to come out.. It's 4AM.. Hmmm.. what a nice Wake Up Call.
