Read more: For the love of the Onion -- Nov 26Continuing a tradition dating back ~200 years, Bern’s annual Zibelemärit (Onion Market) takes place on the fourth Monday of November, when the Federal Square in front of Bundeshaus (Home of Switzerland’s federal government) becomes a boisterous, confetti-strewn, odoriferous podium dedicated to the humble kitchen staple “The Onion”.

As we get off the train at Bern, we’re welcomed with the smells of onion pies and cheese quiches wafting in the air.

We make our way through the throngs to the Bundesplatz - Stalls overflowing with Oniony creations of every kind, colour and form: artful wreaths, plaited strings, dolls, cats and other onion characters are there for the taking.

Lukas buys lemon & peppermint sugar bead garlands that we put around our necks, and stroll around admiring the oniony artwork on display, savoring Zibeleküche (Onion tart), Käsewähe (Cheese quiche) along the way.

A warming mug of Glühwein provides the perfect compliment to the spicy-cheesy treats.

We're Lounging around watching TV after dinner. Nellie comes in and settles next to me. As usual, it hardly takes 30 seconds and she starts to purr motor - the sound of which is oh-so-soothing. A few minutes later Skylar comes in and lays her head on my lap all by herself -- OMG -- and i say to myself:

"Oh, with all that I've done wrong, I must have done something right
To deserve their love every day, And hugs and cuddles at night"

And i silently thank these two lovely Souls for all the Joys that they've brought in my Life!! Love you more than i ever thought i was capable of 😻😻

We had just cut one long-lost potato with eyes into two and randomly planted it in our garden. After 3 months, now is the time to check on our experiment..

Surprise - Surprise -- we manage to get a 4.5 Kg harvest. Well not a bountiful by any means, but amazing considering that it started with a long-forgotten lonely potato in our cellar. As the weather is headed southwards the next week, we decide to harvest the remainder of our Tomatoes as well - the green ones will get a make over and turn red as they lay together with apples in brown paper bags.
