To honor the West --

The Star hangs not just on the corner,

but as a cake is a table adorner,

Seasoned with raisins, nuts and spices,

Baked with love and relished in slices!

To honor the East --

Our steamed Idlis are not round, but rather square,

Sambhar and Tomato Chutney are Spicy and Tangy

Coconut Chutney provides the cooling fare,

And to our delight

The guests enjoy every bite tongue-out

Since it's December, the season for Gifting, Lukas has put on his Baker's Hat. He usually bakes Zopf for our neighbours and friends. We have received some walnuts from a friend and Lukas is baking some Nuss Gipfels for him.

Nuss Gipfel -- one of the most iconic Swiss treats -- Who doesn't love them: these classic and delicious nut croissants are just right for mid-morning snacks, afternoon coffee, after a hike snack or just like that.

Kneading the flour to make a puff pastry dough,

Shelling the walnuts, roasting, sweetening, adding the secret ingredients, making a nutty paste,

Rolling out the dough, filling with the nutty paste,

Glazing the rolled Gipfel, Baking till golden Brown

and Devour...

Sounds simple, but hey -- I'm happy to let Lukas be the Baker @ home. After all, i didn't inherit any baking Genes and don't really like the "Precise" Baking recipes, 'coz I'd rather follow my heart more than a recipe innocent
