Where others come for vacation...
where others come for vacation ...

We're having yet another Foggy & Grey Winter day. But by now, I've learned about the Nebelmeer phenomena and wonder if its Sunny above the fog. We're wondering where we could go and catch some Sun. The cell rings and it's Armand inviting us to join them for a walk in the sunny side of Brennwald from Seelisberg.. But Ofcourse!!!!

b_200_0_7829367_0_0_images_2015_12_IMG_1958.JPGWe drive to Seelisbergsee - a romantic lake nestled in the idyllic mountain meadows of Seelisberg. The green meadows dusted with snow and cobweb shaped icy patches on the lake offer a calm moment. I breathe in the crisp mountain air & the stillness.

But where is the Sun?? The elusive Sun that drove us here? "Soon..." we're told. "We need to gain some altitude to catch the Sun". Thus begins our quest for basking in the Sunlight.... along a hiking trail that's only leading up.

It's already 2:30 and after being on the trail for about half an hour, I'm losing all hope of catching the Sun. After all the Sun sets by 4PM and we seem to be nowhere close to catching the slanting rays of the Sun as it goes down the horizon.

We start betting if we'll catch any Sun at all today. Even though i tend to be a die hard optimist, I ain't too sure anymore. Armand & Claudia think we can. I decide to go all-in with my 3 Francs (only money i found in my jacket pocket, since I'm not carrying my wallet). With 3 Francs one can't even get a cup of coffee in Central Switzerland. We'll have to drive 2 hrs to Ticino to get a cup of coffee.. Guess there are no takers todayfrown

Sun or no Sun - the sights & the sounds of the Forest - the rustling leaves, the moss covered tree trunks, the chirping of birds, the tree canopies capture my attention. Before long we arrive at a junction: One path a dead end atop a cliff & the other continuing on. Knowing Claudia & Armand's adventurous spirit, I'm not surprised we walk towards the dead end. A few meters before the dead end, we scramble up some rocks & grassy meadows to arrive at a serene scenic viewpoint.. Rocky cliff with fir trees on one side, the peaks on the other, the trees of Brennwald forest in front and the snow covered peaks above the tree line.. Ummm.. and the Best part of it all --- We're in the SUN.. Yeah!!!!!

We toast the setting Sun with Prosecco, Basler-läckerli & dried pears. This is one of C&A's favourite spots in Brennwald. As i walk around a bit, i can see my own shadow playing "catch me if you can" on the trees...

We take a different trail on our way back & catch the setting sun turning the snowy peaks into red & gold.
