b_200_0_7829367_0_0_images_2017_11_IMG_4901.JPGThis kitchen in the 400 year old home has been stuck in the 1960s with the faux wall tiles, glazed cabinets, a rudimentary sink, a dishwasher with a broken door that was more useful as a storage cabinet, an electric stove that took forever to heat and an old electrolux refrigerator. It is desperately calling out for a Makeover!!

Since we both love to cook, we'd need more cabinets and a larger countertop space, and perhaps a Gas stove would be nice.. ok.. let me not get carried away already.

Hidden behind the faux wall tiles, we discovered the original 70cm thick stone wall built with stones found around the house glued together with some calc... But, it seems to be falling apart!! After restoring the wall with natural cement and mortar, we fall in love with it.. The Gray mortar helps brings out the different tones and colors of the stones. It's a natural mosaic wall..

Building the Kitchen cabinets against the natural stone wall with no straight surfaces or right angles is going to be a problem. After a couple of experts start looking for excuses not to take over the project, Lukas decides to do it himself...

And 3 weeks later, we have our dream Kitchen.. a perfect fusion of the Old and the New. The modern white cabinets almost become invisible, gently guiding the eye to the earthy tones on the stone wall, the warm brown tones of the wooden walls and ceilings.. And we also have a GAS STOVE!!!! Yippeeeeee ....
